Elizabeth Mami

"Regal Gentleman" 16x20 pastel

"Message from Grandmother" 24x24 oil

"Scotty" 16x20 pastel

A short Biography

I was born in Pontiac, Michigan in 1961. I began to draw and paint at the age of 3 years old. There was never any doubt as to what my passion in life would be, only in the application.

After graduating school, I moved to New York and eventually migrated upstate to the Catskills, a place I had only dreamed of seeing, let alone living there.

Soon, I opened my own shop, Art By Beth, providing Fine Art work in commissioned portraits and furniture, Graphic Art in the form of printing, business signs and vehicles. All along pursuing my novel writing and doing my own brand of Magical Realism. My own art went along the realm of spiritual stories in oil, pastel and acrylic. I had a few shows and was moving along my journey to becoming a better artist.

In 2008, disaster struck, my shop of 23 years at Brookside Hardware in Margaretville, burned to the ground. All of my drawing, paintings and precious artwork was destroyed. I had saved every piece I had ever done from the time of my childhood. Other than what was on people’s walls, my lifetime of work was gone.

I just came out of a successful show at the Zoom Gallery in spring 2011 and was looking forward to moving past this sad era of my life with new art and new goals.

Derek Jecxz

Each photograph is printed on archival fine art paper, signed and hand
stamped with a special seal. I do not edition the prints, my signature and
stamp authenticate my work as original and I do not "mass produce" signed
pieces. My pricing for unframed work is as follows:

11x14: $100
14x20, 16x20, 16x16: $250.00
18x23: $350.00
26x36, 11x38, 30x38: $500.00
38x48, 13x40, 37x50: $750.00

Derek Jecxz is a fine art photographer and he has focused on the landscape since 1995. Born and raised in New
York City, he now prefers the path less traveled, the quiet and forsaken landscape that exists without witness. His
photographs are images of the world that are taken for granted or overlooked. Each photograph is made with
considerable effort and patience and he believes good photographs are made, not taken. Derek’s photographs give
him a voice that speaks without words.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT
My home in the western Catskills, NY provides an endless range of shifting colors, light and moods. To capture the particular light I return to the same scene at the same time of day. My interest is not in the grand vista but rather in exploring beauty in the commonplace, the familiar brought to light, the intimate view, and the moment captured. My oil and watercolor subjects often come from looking out my windows, walking down a road, riding in my car, going to a park, sitting in a restaurant or my home. More recently my images of local environs include etchings.

BIOGRAPHY
